Elizabeth Legare Obituary

LEGARE, ELIZABETH M. (DUFFY)
84, formerly of Seekonk, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, May 10. Born in Pawtucket, Beth was the daughter of Edward J. And Elizabeth (O'Neill) Duffy. She was married to the late Robert K. Legare for nearly 50 years until his passing in 2007. She leaves her three beloved children, Edward J. (Ned) Legare and his wife Beth (Alger) of Dover, MA, Robert D. Legare and his wife Maura (Toole) of East Greenwich and Elizabeth Susan Legare with whom she lived and enjoyed many years of companionship and tender care.
She was the proud grandmother of 7 grandchildren including Sarah Paine (Dave), Patrick (Kylie), Mark (Kaila), Caroline, Robert, Daniel and Mae Legare. She was thrilled to have become a great-grandmother to Henry, Emily, Jackson and Anabella.
Educated by the Sisters of the Sacred Heart, to whom she was fiercely devoted, Beth graduated from Elmhurst Academy and Newton College of the Sacred Heart. She also attained a Masters' Degree in Reading from Rhode Island College. She taught in the Seekonk school system for over 35 years and volunteered at Ronald McDonald House for 14 years. Her warmth, kindness to all, deep faith and love of her family and friends were evident to all who were lucky enough to know her. She will be sorely missed. The family wishes to thank the residents of the Stratford Arms apartments in Riverside for their abiding friendship and kindness over the past several years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 15 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Coyle Drive, Seekonk. Burial will be private. Fully vaccinated friends and family are invited to calling hours Friday evening from 4-7 p.m. at Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral Home, Providence. At all services, COVID protocols will be followed with masks and social distancing required. We are so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. We'd been discussing the last time she and mom (Roberta) had seen each other when we were visiting Block Island. She treasured her friendship with your mom and the whole family and we'd enjoyed several phone calls with her over the past year. Hopefully those two friends are sharing a good laugh now. Our hearts are with you.

Dear Ned, Rob, Susan, & Family,
Please accept our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences for your Mom.
She was such a wonderful lady who always had a smile, kind words, and a laugh for all who were lucky enough to enjoy the pleasure of her company.
Her deep Catholic faith beamed around her beautiful Irish countenance like an aura, and we have fond memories of fun times spent over the years.
May God Bless Beth!

I was a few years behind Beth at Elmhurst and always looked up to her. I then joined her on the Elmhurst Board. She was a special person and will be missed by many.
