James Monroe Obituary

MONROE, JAMES P., 71, formerly of Coventry, died Wednesday at West Shore Health Center, Warwick. He was the husband of the late Joan C. (Wytrwal) Monroe.

Born in Long Island, NY, a son of the late Charles and Helen (Prey) Monroe. He was a resident of Coventry for 21 years.

Mr. Monroe was a construction laborer for over 40 years before retiring in 1993 from Atlantic Coast Construction. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church.

He leaves a daughter, Jennifer J. McKechnie and her husband Eugene of Coventry; five siblings, Helen Seubert, Florence, Charles, John and Richard Monroe and his granddaughter, Amanda Joan McKechnie.

His funeral will be held Saturday at 8 a.m. from the HENAULT-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 5 Eddy Street, West Warwick followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church, Coventy at 9 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. VISITING HOURS: Friday 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Cancer Society, 222 Richmond St., Providence, RI 02903 in his memory would be appreciated.

We were deeply saddened to learn of your dad's passing. He was a special man, always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved you, your mom, Gene and Amanda and your grandmother very much.
