Carmen Wietlispach

Carmen "Corky" Wietlispach, 89, formerly of Moline, Ill., passed away Monday, Nov. 14, 2022 at Mercy Hallmar, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Corky was born Oct. 19, 1933 in Moline, the son of Arthur and Sylvia (Hendricks) Wietlispach. He grew up in Moline and graduated in 1951 from Alleman High School. In 1955 he was called to serve in the Army and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash. Later that year he returned to Illinois, to marry his love, Marylin Kolinchinsky, on Nov. 19th, 1955. (Marylin preceded him in death on Dec. 29, 2018.) Corky and Marylin returned to Washington where they started their life together, and Corky completed his service.
In 1957 they moved back to the Quad Cities where Corky became employed by John Deere Harvester. He retired from the John Deere Parts Distribution Warehouse after 30 years of service. He was a devoted Catholic and a member of Knights of Columbus. His pioneering spirit will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held Thursday Dec. 1st, 4-6 pm, at Rafferty Funeral Home, Moline, beginning with a Christian Wake Service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church, Moline on Friday, Dec. 2 at 1 p.m. Burial at Rock Island National Cemetery, with military honors conducted by Vietnam Veterans of America. Memorials can be made to Alleman High School.
Survivors include his children, Joseph Wietlispach (Liz Turner), Taylor Ridge, Ill., Sharon Cook, Cedar Rapids, IA., John (Susan) Wietlispach, Joliet, Ill., Jim Wietlispach, Bellingham, Wash., and Kathleen Wietlispach, Bozeman, Mont., grandchildren, Allison (Craig) Sorensen, Jeffery Cook, David Wietlispach and Sam (Amanda Wills) Wietlispach and a great-granddaughter, Sophie Mae Sorensen.
