Carole was born December 31, 1942 in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Robert & Lillian (Strooband) Langan. She had owned and operated a fishing resort; Peaceful Valley Resort on Sand Lake in Deer River, Minnesota for many years.

Oh, and Carole loved chocolate and made a point of making at least one person smile each day.
