Betty Jean Wells

September 5, 1934-April 22, 2021

DAVENPORT-Betty Jean Wells, 86, of Davenport, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021 in Davenport. Visitation will be Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 12-2 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Services will follow at 2 pm. Her final resting place will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com.

Betty was born September 5, 1934 in Davenport, the daughter of Darvin and Marie (Cousins) Snyder. She married Robert Wells on December 30, 1954 in Davenport. He preceded her in death on February 20, 2014. She worked as a kitchen manager for the Davenport Public Schools for over 30 years prior to retiring. Her hobbies included: cooking, travelling, sewing, going to the casinos and garage/rummage sales and sitting by bonfires with her family and friends. She had a deep love for animals and her arms were always open to others. She enjoyed life and will be deeply missed.

Those to cherish her memory include children: Debbie Denato (Richard Baptist) Davenport, Steve Wells, Davenport, Kathy Kajawa, Aurora, CO and Dave (Mary) Wells, Blue Grass; grandchildren: Eric Wells (Cindy), Amber (Chris) Herrin, Valerie Wells (fiancé, Drake Denger), Carolina Baptist (Justin); great grandchildren: Olivia, Paige, Sterling and Wren and siblings: Dave (Rae) Snyder, Chattanooga, TN, Donny (Nancy) Snyder, Davenport, Bill (Madonna) Snyder, Myrtle Beach, SC, Wayne (Rhonda) Snyder, Livonia, MI, Cindy Snyder, Davenport, Larry (Deb) Wells, Bettendorf and Kenny Thorndyke, Davenport. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty, was preceded in death by a twin sister Mary Lou Thorndyke and a brother, John.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff and nurses at Good Samaritan Home, Genesis Hospice and Debbie's "A Team" for the loving care shown to Betty and her family. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
