Kathleen Taylor Obituary

Kathleen Taylor

July 28, 1952 - December 26, 2025

Kathy Jean (Hoellen) Taylor, born in Chicago, on July 28, 1952, the daughter of George N. Hoellen III and Helen (Wallin). Kathy Slipped passed away peacefully Friday, December 26, 2025, at age 73 in her home in Davenport, Iowa, after a long battle with spinal stenosis.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents George III and Helen Hoellen, parents in law Lawrence "Bill" and Fern Taylor, brother George Hoellen IV; brother Doug Hoellen; daughter in law Shannon Taylor; daughter in law Ashley Taylor.

Left to cherish her in memories are husband Lawrence "Randy" Taylor, son Lawrence "Craig" Taylor; grandchildren Meghan Taylor, Brooke Taylor (Craig & Shannon's children) (Rachel) from Plattsmouth, Neb.; Son Dr. Christopher Taylor, grandchildren Emma, Parker, Collin (Chris and Ashley's children) from Frisco, Texas; Sister Marcia Rodriguez, (Mike), from Springtown, Texas; sister-in-law Karol (Taylor) Bogard Hamsa (Bill), Lynn (Taylor) Frank (Larry); brother-in-law Thomas Taylor (Barbara) of Hickman, Neb.; sister-in-law (Kathy Hoellen); and many Neices and Nephews.

Kathy devoted over 40 years of her life to working as a florist, where she shared her creativity, compassion, and eye for beauty through her arrangements. Her work marked countless celebrations and offered comfort during life's most meaningful moments.

Kathy was born in Chicago and then moved with her family to Overland Park, Kan., then on to Omaha. This is where she graduated from high school and met her husband. Together Kathy and Randy had two boys that were the pride of her life. She attended florist schooling during her early years of marriage in Omaha.

She enjoyed fishing with Randy (where she ALWAYS out fished him) and the outdoors where she could sit and sun, but most of all she enjoyed her home and being a mother. She worked full time from the time the boys started school.

She had spent the last few years of life dealing with progressively worsening spinal stenosis, which ultimately left her as a quadriplegic during the last three years. She had been living with this debilitating disease for over 20 years in the care of her loving husband Randy and a team of skilled nurses.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026, at New Life Baptist Church, 7780 W. Locust St, Davenport, Iowa 52804, with visitation from 1 p.m. until time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Kings Harvest Pet Rescue or the Scott County Humane Society.
