Keith Samuelson Obituary

Keith Samuelson

August 12, 1934 - April 4, 2025

Keith Samuelson, 90, of Durant, Iowa, passed away Friday, April 4, 2025, at Wilton Retirement Community. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Bentley Funeral Home, Durant. A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will take place in Durant Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Durant Ambulance or First Presbyterian Church, Wilton. Online condolences may be left at www.bentleyfuneralhome.com.

Keith was born on August 12, 1934, the son of Victor and Bonnie (Harper) Samuelson in Richland, Iowa. He graduated from Durant High School with the Class of 1953. Keith proudly served his country from 1955 -1957 in the United States Army. Keith married Shirley Feldhahn on July 31, 1955.

Keith farmed for twenty-eight years before retiring and driving truck for Gless Brothers Trucking. He served as Past President of the Durant Lions Club and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Wilton. For many years, he shared his time and talents as a 4-H Leader for the Fulton Junior Farmers, helping to guide and inspire future generations. In his free time, Keith enjoyed breeding horses and looked forward each year to his annual trip to Branson, Missouri. He enjoyed a good game of Sheepshead, quiet evenings reading, and in his younger years, dancing with his beloved wife, Shirley. But above all, nothing brought him more joy than time spent with his family.

Keith will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Shirely; two daughters, Shelley (Greg) Croson and Sherry Huston, both of Wilton; a son, Tim Samuelson of Tipton; twelve grandchildren, Ashley (Brian) Bishop, Austin (Katie) Croson, Maria Huston, Natalie Huston, Andrea Huston, Destiney (Jeff) Brown, Michelle (Zach Aubrecht) Huston, and Megan Huston, Tiffany (Chasen McMichael) Samuelson, Jerod (Presley Reimers) Samuelson, Brooke Samuelson, and Daniel Samuelson; eleven great grandchildren; and one on the way in July; one brother, Arthur (Mary) Samuelson; two sisters, Betty Lett and Vera (Richard) Smith; and sisters-in-law, Linda Samuelson and Mary Samuelson; and many nieces and nephews.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, James Huston; two great grandchildren; three brothers, Victor (Karen) Samuelson, Dennis Samuelson and Leo Samuelson; and two sisters, Darlene (Lee) Meck and Jean (Lewis) Simons; and a brother-in-law, Edwin Lett.
