Robert "Bob" Tappendorf

DAVENPORT-Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Robert "Bob" Tappendorf, 88, of Davenport, will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will follow in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4:30-6:30pm Tuesday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.

Mr. Tappendorf passed away Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Robert Curtis Tappendorf was born December 12, 1934, in Davenport, the son of Elmer and Eileen (Lane) Tappendorf. He was united in marriage to Madeline "Maddy" Cook on March 17, 1953 in Davenport. In 1973, Bob and Maddy created a home-based business named "Tappendorf Plumbing." For 35 years, together they enjoyed the benefits and challenges of their business, which has now been passed on to their son. Whether it was by joining a snowmobiling club, riding horses, riding Harleys with his wife or socializing with their many dear friends; they lived life to the fullest. Maddy preceded him in death on January 9, 2008.

Bob was a navy veteran of the Korean War, serving on the USS Luzon from 1953 - 1960.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Valerie (Chris) Ryan of LeClaire, son and daughter-in-law, Robert E. (Deborah) Tappendorf of Davenport; grandchildren, Ryan (Tracy) Tappendorf, Kateeya (Zack) Brown, C. Matthew (Stephanie) Ryan, Rebecca (Mike) Tope, Trent (Ashley) Emry, Alex Tappendorf, and Rachel (Clay) Emry-Rowen, Katie (Blake) Caudill; great-grandchildren, Alijah and Lillianna Brown, Kaleb, Kolton, and Kamrie Tappendorf, Hayden and Owen Ryan, Trent Jr and Anderson Emry, Mia and Finnegan Tope; brother Jerry (Sally) Tappendorf.

In addition to his wife Maddy, he was preceded in death by sister Janet Grimes.
