Alvina "Lovie" Morrison

EDGEMONT - Alvina "Lovie" Morrison died of natural causes early Saturday morning, February 19, 2005, at Rapid City. She was 95. Lovie was born December 5, 1909, at Manderson, SD, the eldest of 8 children born to Peter and Hattie (Standing Bear) Pourier. She was married to Robert Morrison of Pine Ridge. Lovie lived in Pine Ridge and Igloo, SD, before moving to Long Beach, CA, in 1960. She lived there with her daughter and son-in-law Jeanie and Bob Metzler and family until the late 1980's, whereupon she returned to Edgemont for the remainder of her life. Lovie is survived by one daughter, Marilyn Montoya of Pueblo, CO, 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by per parents, her son Robert "Booper" and daughter Carol "Jeanie," 3 brothers and 4 sisters. A one-night wake vigil begins 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 23 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pine Ridge. Rosary Services to begin at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 24, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Rev. Bill Pauly, SJ officiating. Interment will be at Holy Rosary Mission Catholic Cemetery, Pine Ridge. Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge is in charge of arrangements.
