Barbara A. Schaeffer

Barbara A. Schaeffer, 79, of Exeter Township, passed away January 11, 2023, in Reading Hospital. Her husband Larry L. Schaeffer Sr., passed away in 2011. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Pauline (Dietrick) Hartman. She had been employed as a loom operator for the Allure Corporation and later took great pride in creating championship dog ribbons for the Rau Dog Shows, West Reading. Barbara was of the protestant faith. Barbara was a loving and very good mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family was everything to her, especially her children. She was always there for them and would do anything for them. She wasn't just their mother, she was their best friend. Barbara loved her dog and would never leave her side. She was a very energetic person who loved to talk and be with her friends. In her free time when she wasn't traveling, she loved to go on Facebook to keep in touch with friends. She also enjoyed knitting, making puzzles and diamond art. Barbara was full of life, energy and love. We are all honored to have her in our lives and her children are very honored to have her as their mother and best friend. She is survived by a daughter, Judith Meshok of Delaware, two sons: Larry L. Schaeffer Jr. of Laureldale and Gerald Eugene Schaeffer of Delaware. There is a sister, Sheila Hartman-Bowman of New York, five grandchildren: Shaun, Brenna, Serena, David and Jennifer and nine great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a son, Kyle Schaeffer and by two brothers: Danny Hartman and Harry Hartman Jr. Friends and family may pay their condolences on Monday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Gallman-Sonoski Funeral Home, Inc., 910 Chestnut St., Reading, PA 19602.
