He was the husband of Ida M. (Hottenstein) Sands. They were married 46 years on Feb. 16.
Born in Colebrookdale Township, he was a son of the late William Henry I. Sands and Virginia A. (Heere) Sands Bower.
He had been employed by Boyertown Foundry, Boyertown, for 35 years from Sept. 16, 1964, to Sept. 16, 1999.
Sands was a member of Lyons Fire Company.
He was an avid gardener and loved woodworking.
He is survived by his wife and three children: Deborah A. (Sands), wife of Robert E. Schweitzer, William C. Sands and Cindy M. (Sands), wife of Stephen A. Dunkle, all of Fleetwood.
There are also four grandchildren: SPC James R. Schweitzer, and his wife, Jazmine M. (Ely) Schweitzer, Puyallup, Wash.; and Stephen J. Dunkle, Rebecca J. Dunkle and Pamela M. Schweitzer, all of Fleetwood.
Other survivors include a step grandson, Chase C. Scibek, Laureldale; and a step great-grandson, Adam Ely, Puyallup.
Also surviving are a sister, Loraine M. (Sands), wife of Richard W. Davidheiser, Boyertown; and a brother, Henry B. Sands, husband of Bertha (Pusch) Sands, Boyertown.
He was predeceased by his son, baby boy Sands; a sister, Anna Mae Sands; and stepfather, Clayton Lester Bower.
A graveside service will be Monday at 1 p.m. in St. John's Gernant's Cemetery, Ontelaunee Township. A celebration of Clarence's life will be Saturday, June 13, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in his residence.
Memorial gifts may be made in Clarence's name to a charity of your choice. Mae A. Stump Funeral Home Inc., Fleetwood, is in charge of arrangements.
