He was born in West Reading to the late Charles Grille and Miriam A. (Scholl)
Firestone and was the husband of Connie (Walmer) Firestone, with whom he shared 29 years of
marriage.
He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and he enjoyed golfing and traveling.
John was a 1964 graduate of Cocalico High School and a 1968 graduate of Albright College. He was the owner/president of the Denver Planing Mill.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by a son, Derek John Firestone, of Lancaster; a daughter, Sondra Desiree, wife of Jerges Cortina, of Ramsey, N.J.; a stepdaughter, Melisa Ann, wife of Mark Mertz, of Ephrata; 3 grand-children: Isabella and Liliana Cortina, and Lucca Firestone; and a stepgranddaughter, Megan Mertz.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Heather Lynn Firestone; and a brother, William Richard Firestone.
A viewing will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018, from
6 to 8:00 p.m. at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut Street, Denver. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 20, at 11:00 a.m, at the funeral home, with Pastor Bradley Haws officiating. Interment will take place in the Fairview Cemetery.

John was such an easy going man. He always took time to talk with me when I was making deliveries to Denver Planing Mill. I send my condolences to Connie and family.
