He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis C. Greth on November 20, 2012. Born February 16, 1928 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Walter A. and Edna F. (Litzenberg) Greth.
He was a graduate of Reading High School. Joseph was employed as a chief electrical draftsman with Gilbert's Associates for 28 years, retiring in 1988. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Joseph loved to spend time outdoors, travel and meet new people. He adored his grandchildren and, in general, loved being around people. He enjoyed his home and friends in Florida, where he was very involved in his church, Community of Faith Church, Clermont, FL.
Surviving as his daughter, Gena R., wife of Kevin C. Howard of Spring Township; and his five grandchildren: Jonathan, Stefanie, Nolon, Kristyn and Erin and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his brother, Wallace A. Greth of Eugene, OR. Joseph was predeceased by his daughter, Denise L. Chambers, who died in 2004 and his brother, Victor Greth, who died in 1981.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday at 3 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading.
