Kerry Gottschall Obituary


Kerry L. Gottschall, 56, of Kenhorst, died Jan. 14, 2012, at 12:57 p.m. in the emergency room of the Reading Hospital.

He was the husband of Jo Ann (Houp) Gottschall. They were married 20 years.

Born in West Reading, he was a son of Polly Ann (Lineaweaver) Gottschall of Kenhorst and the late Paul B. Gottschall.

He was the owner/oper-ator of Kerry's Locksmith Service, Kenhorst, for 20 years, last working Jan. 6, 2012.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. Kerry was the Deputy Fire Chief of the Kenhorst Fire Company for the last two years and a member and firefighter for the last 40 years. He was also a member of Keystone of Shillington, Grill, and Lincoln Park Fire Companies. He enjoyed bowling and watching his son play baseball.

In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by 1a son, Jonathan L. Gottschall, at home; a daughter, Andrea L. Gottschall; three brothers: Gregory P., husband of Cheryl Gottschall, Shoemakersville, David L., husband of Kimberly Gottschall, West Lawn, and Douglass L., husband of Laree Gott-schall, Mohnton; and a sister, Stephanie D., widow of Fred Genery, Sinking Spring.

Funeral services from Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., One East Lancaster Ave., Shillington, on Thursday at 10 a.m., with Pastor Richard H. Andrews officiating. Interment with Fire Department honors in Berks County Memorial Gardens. Viewing Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 and Thursday 9:30 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Please honor Kerry's memory by making contributions in lieu of flowers to the Kenhorst Fire Company, 305 S. Kenhorst Blvd., Kenhorst, PA 19607.

I just saw the sign at Kenhorst Fire Company. What a horrible shock. I am so sorry for the loss of your husband and Jonathan, your father. I know how proud he was of you and the shine of pride during all the sports you played.
