He was husband of the late Kathryn M. (Fenstermacher) Bleiler, who died on Sept. 11, 1999.
Born on July 1, 1915, in Longswamp Township, he was a son of the late John and Minnie (Fenstermacher) Bleiler.
He was lovingly raised by Harvey and Meda Meck.
He was a member of the Longswamp United Church of Christ, Mertztown, where he was a member of the consistory and became an elder emeritus in October 2009.
He was a railroad engineer at the former Reading Company, then Conrail, in Allentown and Reading, for 38 years, retiring in 1979.
Surviving are sons: Max G., husband of Lynne F. (Hicks) Bleiler, Fleetwood, and David C., husband of Cheryl A. (Muthard) Bleiler, Kutztown; sister, Jane I. (Bleiler) Geisinger, Barto; brothers: Donald W., husband of Betty (Wertman) Bleiler, Woodrow W., husband of Eleanor (Wertman) Bleiler, and LeRoy E., husband of Elinor (Hermansader) Bleiler, all of Mertztown; grandchildren: Ellen Connolly, Max J. Bleiler, Barbara Ludwig, Kathy Klokis, Amy Werner, Susan Willis and Brett Bleiler; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
He was predeceased by a son, Wesley J. Bleiler; and brothers: George, John and Franklin Bleiler.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 24, 2010, at 1 p.m. in the Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich St., Kutztown, with the Rev. Sterling A. Schnell officiating. Interment in Longswamp Union Cemetery, Mertztown. Friends may call Saturday from noon to 1 p.m.
