Her husband, Rev. Byard J. Ebling, died January 17, 2018. Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late William and
Verna (Stofflet) Hillegass.
She was a graduate of Reading High School in 1951 and Cedar Crest College in 1955. Nancy was a substitute
teacher in various communities where she lived. She also taught at the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf and was a member of the tip staff for the Berks County Judges.
She was a member of Advent Lutheran Church, West Lawn. Nancy loved her community and was active in the churches where her husband served throughout Berks County. She was also a board member of the Broadway Theater League of Reading among others.
She is survived by her two sons, Byard T., married to
Barbara Ebling, Newtown Square; and Ande Ebling,
Pottsville; six grandchildren: Byard D., married to Noelle Ebling, Rebecca Ebling, Zoe Ebling, Kaley Ebling, Collin Ebling and Amanda Murasko; and one great-grandchild, Gianna Ebling. Her brother, William "Barry," married to Doris Hillegass, Salisbury, N.C., also survives her.
Services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019, at
2:00 p.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, with burial to follow at Good Shepherd Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the
Memorial Fund at Advent Lutheran Church in honor of Nancy Ebling, 16 Telford Avenue, West Lawn, PA 19609. Online condolences may be expressed at www.kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
