He was born in W. Cocalico Twp., a son of the late John Richard and Sarah Irene (Knosp) Snader. He was the husband of Edna Mae (Sauder) Snader, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage.
Raymond was a member of the Denver Mennonite Church (Eastern PA Mennonite Conference). He was interested in genealogy and wrote a book titled "A Branch of The Snaders", regarding his family's history. Raymond especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was active in the Reading Rehab Stroke Club, enjoyed bird watching, doing brain teaser puzzles and collecting Weaver memorabilia.
He retired from the former Victor F. Weaver Company of New Holland in the maintenance department, currently Tyson Corporation. Previously, Raymond was employed at the Bollman Hat Factory in Adamstown.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four sons, Raymond Jr. "Ray", husband of Sylvia (Bomberger) Snader of Bybee, TN; James, husband of Glenda (Martin) Snader of Newmanstown; Mark Snader of Mohnton; Andrew, husband of Naomi (Herr) Snader of Reinholds; four daughters, Esther Snader of Anqing, China; Naomi, wife of Mark Hannay of Mohnton; Rhoda Snader of Ephrata; Sarah Snader of White Hall; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Luke, husband of Elizabeth (Martin) Snader of Reinholds.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marian Snader, four brothers, Daniel, Robert, John and Aaron Snader, and three sisters, Anna Sensenig, Mary Snader, and Ruth Greenly.
A viewing will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on
Friday, April 15, at the Donecker Chapel of Ephrata Manor, 99 Bethany Rd., Ephrata, and from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Denver Mennonite Church, Monroe St., Denver. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the church, with officiating ministry Harold Good, Luke Sensenig, Ray Auker, and Mark Sensenig.
Interment will follow in the Martindale (Brick) Mennonite Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Raymond's memory may be sent to the Ephrata Manor Benevolent Fund, 99 Bethany Rd., Ephrata, PA 17522 or to Eastern Mennonite Missions (designate Esther Snader), 53 W. Brandt Blvd., Lancaster, PA 17573.
