Born in West Reading, he was a son of the late Lester and Irene (Wenrich) Berger.
He was employed 10 years at Horst Inc., Leesport, last working in December.
Surviving are his life partner, Dawn E. Schnee, Rehrersburg; and a son, Ryan R. Berger, Rehrersburg.
Other survivors include four brothers: Dave Berger, Myerstown; Thomas Berger, Mount Aetna; Harvey Berger, Myerstown; and Lester Berger Jr., Schaefferstown; and four sisters: Mary Rick, Annville; Emma Balister, Lebanon; Dorothy Heckman, Hamburg; and Annie Salem, Strausstown.
He was predeceased by sisters Janet Fry and Esther Espenshade.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Trinity UCC Cemetery, Rehrersburg. Hill Funeral Home, Rehrersburg, is handling arrangements.

It was quite a shock to hear about Uncle Rick. Even though I hadn't seen him in years, I thought about him OFTEN. As I remember, he was such a sweet spirited man who loved to smile. Dawn and Ryan, This was such a shock to everyone. No one would have ever thought that he would have died. On Easter it was such a shock and a surprise to us that it happened. I will keep you in my prayers. I'm thinking about you. I'm so sorry. I will miss talking to him at the reunions.

Dawn and Ryan ..i couldn't believe it when I heard about Ricky. my heart and prayers goes out to you and the family .I remember when Ryan was born,seems like not long ago He was a baby and Ricky would pick him up at our house after work. How quickly our whole world can change.His love will stay alive in our hearts and memories.Hold onto each other , keep close to God and allow Him to heal and comfort as only He can do.I am so sorry for your loss.
