She was the beloved wife of Joseph D.
Conrad, who died October 16, 2015, and with whom she shared 67 years of marriage.
Born in Connerton, she was the daughter of the late Francis A. and Mary L. (Kessler) McDonald.
Rita was a graduate of St. Joseph High School,Girardville.
She was a member of St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church.
Rita was employed by Bell Telephone Company as an
operator for over ten years and was also a member of the Bell Pioneers
She enjoyed the casinos, going on her lunch dates with her Reading School District lady friends, but most
importantly she loved spending time with her loving family.
She is survived by her five children: Joseph P., husband of Christine Conrad, Reading; James C. Conrad, Reading; Kathleen C. Hafer, Douglassville; John D. Conrad, Reading; and Jeffrey A. Conrad, fiance of Suzanne M. Hoffa,
Reading. Rita is also survived by her two siblings, Betty Stein and Jerry McDonald; six grandchildren: Matthew Conrad, Andrew Conrad, Tyler Hafer, Jacob Hafer, Taylor Hafer and Jordan Conrad; three great-grandchildren: Chase Conrad, Ashlyn Conrad and Owen Conrad; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
Rita was predeceased by three siblings: Francis
McDonald, Mary Daley and Ruth Dewey; and her
son-in-law, Thomas Hafer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at 11 a.m. in St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church, 925 Centre Ave, Reading, PA 19601, with burial to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, September 26, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading and Wednesday one hour
prior to the Mass at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church, at the above address.
