Mrs. Shipe was one of the most awesome women I have known in my life. She was my 3rd grade teacher back in 1962. I have thought of her often over the years with great respect and adoration. Her love for her family was so evident in her love for the children she taught and cared for. I thank God for making her a part of my life. God Bless !

Mrs. Ships was an incredible human being who believed in her students when the world counted them out. She encouraged students through her Sharpie honor roll program and always had a deep love and respect for the importance of the arts in school curriculum. My mother, Nymia Colon, had the honor of working with her and I had the pleasure of playing the piano with her. My sincere condolences to her family and friends.

WE TALKED EVERY OTHER DAY,I TOLD HER I MISSED HER SO MUCH, BECAUSE SHE BECAME MY ADOPTED MOM.THIS LONG DISTANCE BETWEEN US WAS'NT WORKING OUT TO GOOD BECAUSE WE BOTH MISS EACH OTHER TERRIBLY, I SAID TO HER IT WOULD BE NICE TO BE CLOSER TO HER DAUGHTER SUE,AND THAT WAY SHE COULD VISIT SUE AS SHE LIKED, THIS WAS A PLAN, I SPOKE WITH SALLY A FEW DAYS AFTER WE TALKED ABOUT THIS AND SHE WAS SO HAPPY TO TELL ME SHE SOLD HER HOUSE IN TWO DAYS AND WAS LEAVING FOR WISCONSIN, THAT IS THE WAY SHE LIVED HER LIFE, WITH NOTHING STANDING IN HER WAY. WE VISITED SALLY SO MANY TIMES IN WISCONSIN THAT EVEN THE STORE CLERKS WERE CALLING ME AND PHIL BY OUR FIRST NAMES.THE LAST TIME WE WERE TOGETHER WAS LAST YEAR, IN THE WINTER TIME, THE WEATHER WAS BRUTAL,BUT WE GOT UP EARLY ONE MORNING AND I SAID SALLY, GET YOUR SLIPPERS ON AND WE WILL GO DOWN THE STREET TO MCDONALDS FOR COFFEE IN OUR PJ'S AND GOD FORBID SHOULD I EVER FORGET TO ORDER HER A COKE, THEN WE LEFT TO GO HOME AND WATCHED RAYMOND FOR MANY HOURS TOGETHER.HER AND I WERE LIKE THELMA AND LOUISE WE GOT INTO SO MANY DIFFERENT SITUATIONS AND EACH ONE WAS A COMEDY ACT TO ITS FULLEST, WELL SALLY, MY HEART IS BROKEN BUT THEN I LOOK BACK AND REMEMBER ALL OUR SPECIAL TIMES WE HAD TOGETHER, NOT EVERYONE CAN SAY THEY HAD SUCH A SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP LIKE OURS, I WILL ALWAYS HAVE A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART FOR YOU SALLY, I LOVE YOU SO MY FRIEND, PLEASE EVERY ONE WHO READS THIS PLEASE HAVE A COKE TOAST(SALLY'S FAVORITE DRINK OF ALL TIMES) AND SAY HEARS TO YOU MY FRIEND, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN. SALLY'S MOST FAMOUS SAYINGS, IS THE POPE CATHOLIC, AND HOW ARE YOU DOING TODAY I WOULD ASK HER, SHE ANSWERED EVERY ONE I CAN. ONE OTHER QUESTION, WHERE THE HELL IS MY COKE!!!

When I began my career with the RSD as a Home and School Visitor, I was so fortunate to be able to work with Mrs. Sally Shipe. One early afternoon she invited me into her office and invited me to sample some of her chicken salad on crackers. I asked her for the recipe, and to this day still make "Sally Shipe's Chicken Salad ".
Sally is one of those people you never forget once you've met them. She was professional, gracious, kind, and made a lasting impression on a young woman just beginning her career in education.
Thank you,Mrs. Shipe------you were one of the BEST !!

My condolences to the family. I worked with Sally at NW Elementary and then again, she became the principal at Tyson-Schoener. We had so many funny, memorable moments at both places. She was a benevolent dictator and we loved her. She had the best scores in math and reading in the district. She cared about every one in the building. May her soul rest in peace.
