William A. Griffin

William A. Griffin, 87, of Wernersville, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023. He was the loving husband of Marie A. (Fox) Griffin. William, a son of the late Alva and Ellen May (Thomasson) Griffin, was born in Richland, OK, on March 29, 1936. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Kristi L. Griffin, partner of Dina Beasley; and a brother, Robert L. Griffin. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn A. (Yerger) Griffin. William received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Engineering Physics from the University of Oklahoma, Norman, in 1959 and 1963, respectively. He served three years as a Navy Officer teaching nuclear reactor physics at the Nuclear Power School, New London, CT. In 1963, he became a member of the Technical Staff at Bell Laboratories, Reading, PA, where he had worked on the development of switching and regulating silicon diodes, device designs, and the processing of linear and digital integrated circuits. He also was a part time instructor at Albright College and RACC for Engineering Physics. Most recently he worked and was co-owner at GP Microdesign, Inc., Laureldale, PA, as an Integrated Circuit Designer and Officer. He was a member of Sigma Tau and Tau Beta Pi. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Lamm & Witman Funeral Home, 243 W. Penn Ave., Wernersville.
