Jerry Magner Obituary

Longtime Hidden Valley resident Jerry E. Magner died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday August 2, 2011.
Born to William and Stella Magner in 1931 in Arkansas City, Kansas, Jerry joined the Army/Air Force in 1948 going on to complete a 20-year career in the Air Force as a nuclear technician and teacher. In 1951 he married Cherry Ann Moreland in San Angelo, Texas and raised three sons together, while serving at many Air Force stations in the U.S. During his service, Jerry was also on the USAF swimming and diving team, serving overseas tours in the Korean conflict and Turkey, finally retiring teaching at Lowry Air Force Base, Denver Colorado.
After leaving the military Jerry started a new career in the automobile sales and retired as a consultant to Frontier Ford in San Jose, California in 1985. In 1986, Jerry and Cherry chose Hidden Valley/Middletown to be their last home, and have lived here ever since then, recently celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary this last February.
Jerry is survived by his wife Cherry; his sister Betty; his children Richard, Chuck, and Mike; his grandchildren Michael, Kimberly, Marcia, Reuben, Jake and Dan; his great-grandchildren Anthony, Adriana, and Zoie; all of who miss him dearly while at the same time treasuring the memories of a man that made a difference.
A memorial service is scheduled to be held August 27th 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church located at 15576 Graham Road in Middletown, California (707-987-2802). The family requests, that if possible, those attending the service bring a flower from their gardens to be used during the service.
In lieu of flower arrangements or bouquets the family asks that donations be given to the:

Uncle Jerry~~~you made a difference in my life. While you are such a fun uncle with a twinkle in your eyes, you are a very stable christian man. Your life is an ideal role model of someone who believe and love God! Enjoy heaven!
I love you!

My memory of Jerry was during a bible study group that I was involved in several years ago. It is a loss to the community and to his family. I wish his family well. His memory will live on. May Jerry always look down from Heaven to all of you.

Jerry and my husband were the best of friends and spent many hours together doing many projects. They always drank coffee together and had a lot of fun talking about the "good old days". My husband made the bases for his three square nail crosses.
He will be joining "Bill" and they will be together again in Heaven.
He will be terribly missed by me and our family. R.I.P. our "Good Friend"and neighbor.

I so treasure the wooden cross with the three square nails attached that Jerry made and mailed to me one Good Friday years ago. May your families heal through the deep love God has for each and every one of you...
