Dan Naimoli Obituary

MERIDEN - Officer Dan Grégoire Naimoli, born in Meriden on April 8, 1982, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 20, 2010.

Dan attended St. Laurent School, was active in Boy Scouts Troop 17, working his way up to the rank of Eagle Scout. He attended Wilcox Tech, where he studied auto mechanics and went on to win first prize in the VICA statewide competition, in the automotive division for two consecutive years. Upon graduation, Dan joined the CT Army National Guard and continued to serve his country in that capacity, having just returned from Camp Drum with the 143rd ASG Unit.

Dan worked as a mechanic, in his trade, for Bob's Garage and Autobody and then, full-time for the CT Army National Guard. In his free time, Dan served as a volunteer for the SMVFD. Following in the footsteps of his paternal grandfather and great-grandfather, Dan joined the Meriden Police Department in 2008. He was extremely proud to serve his community.
Dan was the loving father to Nicholas and Robert Ghidini Naimoli; and the beloved son of Gary and Vivian Naimoli. He leaves behind his loving sister, Angela Naimoli and her fiancé, Ryan Amorisino; his maternal grandmother, Blanche Grégoire; his paternal grandfather, Anthony Naimoli; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Irene Naimoli and maternal grandfather, Leo Grégoire.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 24, at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for a Mass of Christian burial with his uncle, the Rev. Leo Grégoire officiating. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends and relatives my call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, on Friday, July 23, from 3 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Naugatuck Savings Bank for the Naimoli Children. www.jferryfh.com

It was a true privilege to have known Dan. The lasting impression I will have of him was his honesty and goodness of heart. He had a reputation of goodwill towards others that will outlast all that we know. Dan was a hero in the truest sense of the word, not just because of his service to the community in myriad ways, but because of his genuine and humble nature. Dan is the kind of man that will live on in our hearts, our minds and most importantly, his two precious young Sons.

Thoughts and Condolances to the Naimolis,
Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Lorenti and Sons.

I didn't know you for very long...but you were one of the most selfless, kindest, hardest working person I have ever met in my life. You gave without ever asking for anything in return. I spent a lot of time with you at AT 2010 and you never turned a Soldier away who needed your help. You rarely got a hot meal but you always made sure your ... See MoreSoldiers were fed. I wish I could of gotten to know you better and build more memories with you, but I pray that you are reaping all the wonderful things that you have sowed throughout your life and are in a better place. Rest in Peace SSG Dan Naimoli

"Miss me, but let me go
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free

Miss me a little - but not too long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love that we once shared
Miss me - but let me go

For this is a journey that we must all take
And each must go alone
It's all a part of the Master's plan
A step on the road to home

When you are lonely, and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds
Miss me - but let me go"

You were an excellent father to our two beautiful boys and they loved you dearly, you are their Hero. Always in our hearts RIP Dan

Danny was truly a "Grand"_nephew. He was an example of what God had in mind when he created man. As children we dream of someday growing up and being a policeman, fireman or a soldier. Danny did it all and he did it with honor. Now when we see a "black & white" roll down the road , our thoughts will be of Danny. "He will be truly missed", these are words we will say and hear often as we speak of Danny, they will never have been spoken with more truth and sincerity.
Our thoughts, our prayers and our deepest sympathy go out to his two sons, his mom & dad,
his sister and his grandfather.

Having such a hard time finding words to do Dan justice. The word that comes most to mind is HERO. He was MY hero. One of the only truley selfless and kindest people I have ever been priviledged enough to be able to call another word: FRIEND. Dan you will be in my memories and prayers forever, and I know that you'll be watching down on your boys and us from a big cloud in Heaven, waiting for the day when we are all together again.

My deepest condolences to all of Dan's family, and thank you for sharing his time on earth with all of us.

I am proud to say that I knew Dan & the love he shared for his sons, Nick & Robbie. He was the best father any child could ask for. As far as him as a person, he was a great man & an even better inspiration to those around him. He accomplished so much in the very short time he was here with us. Our hearts are broken but we should feel honored to have known such a real, loving, and caring person like Dan.

To the Naimoli family, God Bless. My thoughts & prayers are with you now and always.

To the MPD family, we will all get through this together.

To all, let's keep Dan's memory alive & shining. If not for ourselves, but for his two boys who love and adore their father.

RIP DAN! Gone but never forgotten. God Bless.
