Gary Stocking Obituary
Born in Meriden on October 17, 1944, he was the son of the late Robert and Florence Stocking. He had resided in Meriden all of his life and had graduated from Wilcox Technical School, class of 1962. Mr. Stocking was employed by Yankee Gas for over 30 years. Gary was a devoted, loving husband and father, with a quick wit that would always lift your spirit. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics, and New York Giants. He enjoyed most being with his family and friends vacationing in Florida and Rhode Island. He was a life member of the Meriden Elks Lodge 35, a member of the New Departure Fish and Game Club, and he also coached football.
Besides his wife Charlain, he is survived by two sons, Gary Stocking Jr., and his wife, Susan, and Keith Stocking and his wife, Michele; several grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers, Robert Stocking and Dennis Stocking; and a sister-in-law, Joanne Stocking. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Sheri Stocking; and a brother, Allan Stocking Sr.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service to be held on Monday, Aug. 21, at 11:15 am from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden and at 11:30 am at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 164 Hanover St., Meriden. Burial will be private. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, Aug. 20, from 2 to 5 p.m. and on Monday morning prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Donations in his memory can be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church or The Scleroderma Foundation 300 Rosewood Drive, Suite 105 Danvers, MA 01923. Charlain, I was sad to hear of Gary's passing. Although it's been many years, I still have wonderful memories of you and him coming to the house. Gary was a great guy, and a lot of fun. I especially remember that laugh of his. May god bless him, you and your entire family.

Dear Charlain, It's hard to believe that Gary has passed. I hold such fond memories of him and I working as lineman for the old CL&P. Although we haven't seen each other in a long time, I never forgot him and how very funny he was and how he got me through many tough days.
