John Herr Obituary
John Manning Herr Sr., 94, of Sarasota, Florida, and Cape Cod, Massachusetts, passed peacefully into eternal rest on November 16, 2025, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Venice, Florida, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Betty Y. Herr.
John was born on January 25, 1931 in Worcester, Massachusetts, to the late John A. Herr and Ellen M. Herr. John was predeceased by his sister, Ellen Marie Dennis.
John earned his degree from the University of Connecticut. During his college years, he was offered the opportunity to serve as the manager of the UConn Men's Basketball Team. His experience left him with more than memories.
Following graduation, John served his country honorably in the United States Air Force, stationed in Japan. His civilian career was spent in financial services, ultimately leading Main Street Management Company as its CEO.
John was a long-time member of Rotary International, committed to the principle of serving others through fellowship.
Alongside his wife, John leaves behind three children, J. Manning Herr Jr., Deborah Holden, and Elizabeth Herr. He was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, and his life was enriched by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In loving memory of John, contributions may be made to Rotary International to continue fostering goodwill across the globe.
