Viola Semolic Obituary
Born in Fitchville, on Sept. 15, 1915, she was the daughter of Mary and Sam Kasperovich.
Viola was loved and will be missed by her four children, Peter Semolic, of Meriden, Irene Hanslin, of Concord, N.H., Carole Semolic, of Montgomery, N.Y., and Paul Semolic, of Portland; as well as several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Semolic; and her brother, Leo Kasperovich.
Viola taught first and second grades in the Meriden School System for many years, having graduated from The Teacher's College of Connecticut in 1937. She adored teaching children. As a member of the First Congregational Church, she sang in the choir, bringing her children to enjoy music there as well. Viola loved beauty in nature, literature, photography and dance and shared her enthusiasm through Letters to the Editor in the local newspapers.
Her funeral service will be held at Smith Hall, First Congregational Church, Colony Street, Meriden, at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6. There will be no calling hours. The John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden is assisting the family with arrangements. www.jferryfh.com

To the Family of Mrs. Semolic~
We fondly remember her as a kind, understanding, fun loving, completely devoted teacher in The Meriden Public Schools.
My son who was fortunate enough to have her in Kindg at Casimir Pulaski School, is now himself a teacher and still speaks of her teaching style with the highest of regards and respect. He loved her.
She gave her students a wonderful base for education.

Mrs. Semolic was at Samuel Huntington during my first year of teaching. She had a wonderful spirit and loved working with the children. .... Irene and I were classmates at Maloney; my thoughts go to her family

Mrs. Semolic is one of my fondest memories of C.Pulaski School here in Meriden.....she was our sons kindergarten teacher and a very fine one at that!
