Dawn Monkiewicz Obituary

EASTHAM - Dawn M. (Bonzek) Monkiewicz, 68, of Eastham passed away at home on July 15, 2016. Dawn was truly a compassionate, independent, strong lady that never put herself first. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
She was a proud graduated of Turners Falls High School Class of 1966, and Hartford Airline Personal School Class of 1967. She was a varsity cheerleader that led her life on those principles. She always had a smile on her face and a happy word.
Dawn was a dedicated school committee member of the Gill Montague School District. She excelled in the service industries as a travel consultant for 25 years, and as a dynamic rental agent establishing about 200 clients, give or take, in 10 years on the lower Cape. She was also a teacher for the NAMI Family to Family Class.
Dawn enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, travel, exercising by walking or biking, the Cape Cod Symphony, Broadway plays, and listening to classical music on Sunday mornings. She was an avid animal lover.
She leaves behind Bernard, Sr.; two sons Bernard, Jr. and Mark; a sister, Sue Garganigo, and two brothers. Last but never least, three of the most cherished things she leaves in this world, are her three grandchildren, Kylee, Joseph, and Alexander of Greenfield, MA.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Joan of Arc Church on Monday, July 25 that 11 a.m.

Happy first anniversary, Dawn.
Your memorial service last year was beautiful. I sat with Miriam and her colleagues. I never knew all the good deeds and charitable work you did. You were amazing. I hope your sons and their families are okay. I sure missed you this summer.

I miss my dear cousin, Dawn, so much. She was a joyful presence in our lives. When we were kids, Dawn was my role model and best pal. When her family would visit Syracuse where we lived, I would cry for two days after she went back home. It's been over a year since she's been gone, and I still can't believe it. When I think about visiting the Cape, I have to remind myself that she won't be there to walk East Sandwich beach with me. But Dawn will always be alive in my heart - she will never be forgotten.

BJ, Mark and Bernie,
What a tremendous loss to you and so many. I remember Dawn as a caring Mom, a volunteer, a Friend. We had some fun and some serious times. She "rescued" me when I was at a conference in Miami & a hurricane caused evacuation- using her expertise - and her charm, I'm sure- she found a flight out. May her continuing love and smiles help fill the void for you. With prayers,

Peter and I were so sad to hear we had lost this amazing and delightful spirit that was Dawn. Bright and anf funny, there was never a better mother, grandmother, sister or a truer friend. Dawn loved unconditionally and made us feel like family. The world is a sadder and darker place without her sparkle.

What a pleasure to have known and worked with Dawn. She always had a kind word. She loved uncondtionally and made us all feel like family. To spend time with Dawn was to laugh and have such fun. Her family was first and there never was a more loving mother, grandmother, sister or truer friend. The world is a sadder place without her sparkle.. We will never forget dear Dawn.

July 22, 2016

The Henry and Joseph Bonzek families were on the way to a vacation at East Sandwich Beach, Cape Cod, and in our car my darling little niece, Dawn, sang all the way "How Much is that Doggie in the Window" and "Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini." What fun Dawn, Terry, Mike, Butch and Chris had together so many wonderful times. Dawn always kept in touch with us over the years and we looked forward to our times together at Cape Cod. Uncle Joe made July 4th baked beans which Dawn also made as a remembrance to him. She loved life and we all loved her. She wrote to me a month ago telling me she played the song "The Prayer" every night before she went to sleep. We will be thinking about you always, Dawn and thank you for Everything.
Love you,
Aunt Thelma Bonzek

I was shocked to hear of Dawns passing. When I think of Dawn, I think of her special relationship with Suzanne, her sister, and how devoted she was to her children and grandchildren. My thoughts and prayers to all of her family.

Mark- you shared your mom with 81 of your classmates at TFHS while she was our class advisor. What a gift she gave to us during those four years...such dedication, happiness, energy and positivity. May you take those characteristics of hers and continue to spread her joy. Our class has decided to honor your mom with a one time scholarship in her name to a graduating senior from TFHS in June 2017...a student who exemplifies all your moms characteristics.
