Robert J. "Red" Bartak Sr.

1950 - 2015

GREENFIELD - Robert ""Red"" J. Bartak, Sr., 64, died Sunday 1/18/15 at the Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility in Greenfield. He was born in Montague on June 24, 1950, the son of Edward and Martha (Denofrio) Bartak. He attended local schools in Greenfield and was a graduate of Greenfield High School Class of 1968. After high school, Red attended barber school.
He was a machine operator at the Erving Paper Mill for 31 years until his retirement in 2009. After he retired, Red opened Red's Barber Shop on Bank Row in Greenfield.
Red was a member of the Moose Lodge in Greenfield.
He enjoyed gardening, which included pears, peaches, and raspberries in his yard. He got to enjoy feeding the birds and stray cats in the yard. Also, the dogs Duke, Coco, and Darcy predeceased him, but Bandito will surely miss him!
Besides his wife, Theresa (Mayo) Bartak, Red leaves a son, Robert J. Bartak, Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Greenfield, a daughter, Laura Bartak and her fiancé Joe Kozlowski of Hinsdale, NH, a brother, Richard Bartak of Millers Falls, grandchildren, a niece and a nephew.
Red was predeceased by his brother Edward Bartak in 2005.
A memorial service will be held Thursday 1/22 at 11 am at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal Street, Greenfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Calling hours will be held Thursday morning from 9 am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
