Jason Beam Obituary

Jason Craig Beam, 45, of Sabina, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family, on April 11, 2024.

He was born on June 22, 1978, in Washington Court House and grew up in Sabina, Ohio. Jason was happiest when surrounded by his family, especially his nieces and nephews. Jason was often quiet and known for his kind and patient nature. Jason was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia nearly two years ago and fought this disease with bravery and determination until the very end.

Jason was a beloved son of Cathy & Craig Beam, who survive him. He is also survived by his brother Brad Beam (Kimberly) of Sabina, his brother Chad Beam (Beth) of Wilmington, his sister Jessica DeBold (Wesley) of Sabina, his nephews Gage & Barrett Beam of Sabina, niece Malea Beam of Wilmington, and his nieces Kendall & Reese DeBold of Sabina.

Jason was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Virginia & William Beam, and his maternal grandparents, Vivian & Rex Cox.

Jason's passion for flying with his dad led him to become a pilot at the young age of 17. He was fortunate to turn his greatest passion into a career. He graduated from East Clinton High School and trained at PanAm Flight Academy where he earned his Airline Transport Rating and both the 757 and 767 Type Ratings. Throughout his career, Jason flew for Martinaire and Ameriflight, exploring much of the United States and beyond.

Since 2016, he has worked for Wheels Up, most recently as a Captain flying a Beechjet 400 on domestic charter flights. As much as he loved flying, Jason's most favorite role in life was being "Uncle D" (despite not having a D in his name) to his nieces and nephews.

Aside from his career, Jason was an outdoorsman. He was an avid gun collector; he could spend hours wandering a gun show or gun shop or researching online. He was a skilled sport shooter; pistols, rifles or shotguns - Jason could shoot with the best of them. He was a hunter, one of his most favorite adventures was dove hunting in Argentina with Brad, Wes, Chad and his dad. He loved hiking, visiting national parks and photographing nature. He would go fishing any chance he could get, whether in his backyard pond or in the ocean. Jason also enjoyed helping combat wounded veterans by volunteering at Operation Cherrybend.

In lieu of flowers, the Beam family asks that memorial gifts be made to support the AML Research Pilot Program (312904) at OSU James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. Gifts may be made online or checks may be mailed to The OSU Foundation (P.O. Box 710811, Columbus OH, 43271-0811). Please reference that your gift is in memory of Jason Beam.

Visitation will be at Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, on Monday, April 15, 2024, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm. A funeral service will be at the convenience of the family with burial to follow at Centerville Cemetery, Lees Creek. The family will hold their annual blood drive and a Celebration of Life for Jason this Fall, details to follow. Jason will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace.

Any words of condolences may fall flat during such a difficult period of grief and loss in the lives of all who loved and cared for Jason. I did not know Jason as a close longtime friend and had not seen him in decades. But, spending any amount of time in his presence felt comfortable and to be accepted without judgement. He was reserved, kind and humble and I just wanted to acknowledge he was one of the good ones among us. I´m sure the gift of his love and friendship will forever be cherished by those of you who knew him best. You´re in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
