David Fontanilla Obituary

David Leo Fontanilla Dec.14, 1964 - Sept. 27, 2020 It is with broken hearts that the family of David Leo Fontanilla announces his peaceful passing on Sunday, September 27, 2020. In the end he was surrounded by family and left us knowing that he was loved on earth and that he would be reunited with our parents. The family would like to thank Dave's work family and friends at Manteca High School, as well as the staff of St. Joseph's Pavilion ICU for their support during this time. Dave was preceded in death by his proud parents, James and Corinne Fontanilla and his beloved dogs, Jenny and Makoa. He is survived by his doting sister Lesley, brothers Jim and Robert, and sisters-in-law/love Jenni and Brenda, as well as his cherished nieces and nephew - Sabiene, Kellinne, and Brycen. A gathering for people who know and love Dave will be planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, or the Alzheimer's Association would be greatly appreciated by Dave's family.

Mr. Fontanilla. Words cannot describe how much you meant to me and to others. You gave me hope in my darkest hours, and you always supported me when i needed someone. I remember coming into English II and always seeing you have a smile on your face. You were such a bright soul, a man full of wisdom and integrity, kindness and love. May you rest in Heaven peacefully playing that ukulele of yours.

I met him 44 years ago. A teammate, classmate and a friend. He was one with so many talents. My heart goes to him and his family. Look down upon us to give us the strength to be the example that you were to all your classmates and teammates. Give a hug to your mom and dad. Miss you Davey

My condolences to the entire Fontanella family. I was lucky to call him my teammate. The poise and tenacity he exhibited as a player carried on throughout his life. I enjoyed catching up with Dave a few years ago when he brought his Manteca frosh teams to SM. The Green family will keep Dave and your family in our prayers.
