Marylou McNeill Obituary

June 22, 1930 - March 25, 2017
Marylou McNeill, 86, of Stockton passed on March 25, 2017. She was surrounded by her children, grandchildren and dear friends. She is now with her beloved husband, Dr. Artemas Legare McNeill, "Mac".
Marylou was born in Stockton, CA. on June 22, 1930 to Alta Grace Imperial and Benjamin R. Wilson. After completing nursing school in Michigan, she returned to CA and worked for Dr. Willard Collins Jr., DDS and Dr. Bruce Benninger, DDS.
Mac & Lou-Lou, as they were often called, were first responders to the aids epidemic in the late 70's. They were founding volunteers to an upstart support group in San Joaquin County for people with HIV/AIDS in 1982. This "Hand to Hand Project" began in the family room of a dear friend Sandy Fortham. This project initiated support from the Sacramento Aids Foundation to create the "San Joaquin County Aids Group" which led to the formation of the "San Joaquin Aids Foundation, Inc." in 1986. In 1987-1988 Dr. A.L. & Marylou McNeill were presented a special recognition of their support and help in the creation of San Joaquin Aids Foundation.
Marylou is survived by her children, James R. McNeill of Healdsburg, CA, Katherine Hicks of Riverside, CA, Tom P. McNeill of Hartland, VT and her grandchildren, Mathew Fogarty, Sydney Hicks, Robert McNeill, William Hicks and Adrienne McNeill.
Predeceased are her husband Dr. Artemas Legare McNeill, her sister Dodie Bowen, and her children David Fogarty, Steven Fogarty, and Leslie Chase McNeill.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 9th, 2017.

Mary Lou was a dear friend, neighbor and confidant of mine for over forty years! A very intelligent, thoughtful and loving person whom I miss very much. I often think of her and Mac and all the fantastic times we had over the years. They both are missed very much as they were an integral part of my life and times.
Rest in internal peace my friend, as you have earned your place I the Heavens!
