Matt Garibaldi Obituary
Stockton - Matt Joseppi Garibaldi, 64, passed away on June 26, 2021 at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Stockton, CA from health complications.
Born March 23, 1957 in Stockton, Matt grew into a gentle giant who was always willing to lend others a hand and who left this world with no hard feelings. Despite towering over others with a deep voice that could make anyone snap to attention, he was a humble, caring man who never met a stranger; a Harley rider who would sooner pummel you with love and respect than his fists. Although his enormous hands could each palm a basketball, he couldn't for the life of him hold a grudge.
Being genuinely interested in others, Matt loved to meet new people (and pets), visit family, and share a laugh. When really amused, he threw his head back and let out an infectious laugh, often with a knee slap for good measure. His frequent connecting and empathizing with others was no doubt exhausting, for he was an accomplished napper who could conk out in the middle of Manhattan.
No stranger to hardship, Matt overcame several serious injuries and ailments throughout his life, from a broken neck to lymphoma. He seemed to have the strength of an ox and the many lives of a cat. Matt was preceded in death by his parents, Nedra and George, and in 1998 he lost his beloved wife, Sandy, to breast cancer, with whom he had three children: Emily, Stephanie, and Matt Joseppi Jr. "Joey" (who married Daphnie). Matt ably raised the kids and is survived by them all, as well as his joyful grandchildren, Ace, Cole, and Juliana, whom he judiciously spoiled. He is also survived by his siblings---Arthur, Annette Wright (and her husband Bud), and Gary---along with dozens of cherished nieces and nephews and his sweet dog, Ellie.
Matt's many family and friends will greatly miss his kind spirit and warm presence. Please share memories of him by email ([email protected]). So sad th hear of Matt´s passing. He was a good father, brother, son and friend. One of those guys that never met a stranger. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him and experienced his kind soul and great personality. Condolences to the Garibaldi family.
