Stockton, CA
July 12, 1962 - February 5, 2007
Ricardo Rosina Lazaro, Jr., passed away Monday, February 5, 2007. Ricky attended Del Campo High School in Fair Oaks, CA where he was President of his senior class and Homecoming King. While attending Sacramento State, he was a Yell Leader. He had a passion for cooking and was a partner in the Gourmet Club. There was never a family occasion without him organizing the kitchen and cooking. He was a great, loving and dedicated father to his three sons. He was their coach for many years in baseball, football, and was their Club Scout Leader. His favorite pastimes were camping and fishing with his sons and attending all their sports events. He was a proud father of his sons' participation in their Tahitian dance troupe Na Hoku Mai Kanoelani. Ricky will always be remembered by answering the phone by "Good Morning" any time during the day or leaving his trademark telephone messages of "Woof Woof". He will always be known and loved by his cousins, nephews and nieces as the "Mac Daddy".
Grandson of Helen Lazaro; son of Ricardo Sr. and Linda Lazaro; father of Rio, Jay and Logan Lazaro, all from Stockton. He is survived by his brother and family, Arthur and Kelly; nieces, Natasha and Jordan; nephews, Bryden and Joshua Lazaro of Fair Oaks, CA. Nephew to Juanita Hall, Ron and Lisa Lazaro, George and Vicky Alavazo, Larry Lazaro, Jr, Clare and Gordon Mayberry and Arlene Teczon. Cousin to Michelle Schuessler, Angela Argarin, Larry Lazaro III, Greg Alavazo, Stacey Teczon, Lesley Hipolito, Nicole Clavejo, Danielle Seibel, Azia Ingram, Alex Lazaro, Tamiko Tufuga, Mark Lazaro, Christopher Lazaro, Matthew Lazaro and Ryan Lazaro. Uncle to numerous nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 12, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Lincoln Presbyterian Church, 900 Douglas Rd., Stockton. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park Hwy 99 & Harney Lane in Lodi. Burial will follow the services on Monday at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery. Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dear Linda, Rick, Rio, Jay, Logan and everyone who loved Ricky,
As we read this guest book, it becomes abundantly clear just how wonderful and special Ricky was for so many others, too. We are forevermore thankful for the gift of his life that we all so fortunately received. Our prayers are that His abiding and amazing grace will take you past the pain of loss, and that it will soon be replaced with joy and peace.
There IS a purpose in all things and all experiences and phases of living...and dying. Just as it took a little time for us to develop as human beings, Ricky's life will speak to us in so many, many ways as time goes by. It already has. What a loving, full and active history we all shared with him as part of it, and those things are ours to keep in very personal, meaningful ways. One thing that definnitely applies across the board, is how Ricky made us feel. What a rare and unique gift he had for making us feel so welcome in his presence and so special...his PR was magic...but most importantly, sincere. He truly loved out loud, and he spent most of his time, and his energy, loving all of us, especially his sons and family.
Whatever our individual purposes in life, let's strive to live beyond ourselves...like Ricky did. We should take nothing and no one for granted; speak to loved ones...tell them how we feel.
Until we're all reunited at our family's heavenly reunion banquet, with Executive Chef, Ricky, we're here on earth for you in any way we can be helpful.
Lovingly,
Cousins Frank G. Jr. & Judy Cantorna Tafoya, Allen Michael Fafoya & Family, Adrian Cantorna Tafoya, Simone Aimee Tafoya Keyawa & Family

Dear Rick, Linda, Art, and family:
I am so sorry for your loss, I remember Ricky well from our years at Del Campo High School and seasons with the Birdcage Lanes Bowling League! (Kevin and Max and the rest...) Most of the team spending the night at the house near John Holst School, staying up late listening to rock-n-roll (KISS!), Linda telling us to go to sleep because we had to get up early in the morning for a tournament! The parents driving us around to different bowling lanes to compete, the Lazaros always there to watch and encourage Rick and the team. Rick, a real leader and a natural entertainer! Even in our youthful folly, when we had arguments or disagreements, Rick could usually patch it up because everybody liked him and he had a natural ability to diffuse a situation with his easy humor. And, oh yeah, he was a fine bowler and a perfect sportsman in victory or defeat, and we saw both! Ricky, man, we lost touch but we never lost our friendship! Over the years I'd think about you now and then; how were you and what were you doing? Had life been good to you? Know I'll think about you still, my friend from long ago.

Lord, I don't understand? I am trying to find some meaning for Ricky's passing, but I just can't. I worry he may have gone not knowing how much he was loved. Everyone who knew him loved him, I just didn't realize how much. He gave and loved everyone so much, he made everyone feel they deserved to be loved. I just hope and pray that he knew all the love we felt for him. You know when you are standing at the kitchen sink with the water running and the T.V. on, or at a street light waiting to change, and the tears just start coming? At that moment, you realize how much he meant to everyone. I found some solice yesterday when the sun was shining and the sky was blue. Uncle Rick, Auntie Linda, Art, Rio, J, and Logan that was Ricky shining down on all of you, like he always did. Making us all feel warm and smiling. Ricky you are so missed every minute of every day by everyone. Love and kindness was never forced, it all came naturally and effortlessly. You are such a beautiful person.

Today is bright and sunny just like my nephew Ricky, and if tomorrow is rainy those are our tears of joy knowing he is looking down upon us from heaven.
He was the first grandchild born into the Alavazo/Lazaro Clan 'BABY BUDDAH' he was so special to all of us...
He had a heart of GOLD and not a mean bone in his body.
He was infectious and left such an impression on everyone's life...remarkable, unforgettable and forever in our hearts.
I loved babysitting the awesome 'FOUR', Ricky, Michelle, Art and Larry III. Ricky was the ring leader of the pack..so adventurous and his mind was always in motion thinking of what he could do next. I couldn't ever get mad at him because his smile just melted me.
I will always remember the times my Auntie Carmen would take him for a ride in her car. He was around two and would stand right up against her (this was before car seats were enforced) with his arm across her shoulder....he would whisper in her ear FASTER! and if it wasn't fast enough he'd say NO FASTER AUNTIE, FASTER!!..this went on until he thought it was fast enough...YEAH!! with a big smile from ear to ear. He was happy.....
He told me the best thing about being a yell learder was looking up the girls skirts...naughty boy.
Looks like his aunties have to come out of retirement and back to the kitchen they must go...
Father God give his parents, sons and relatives comfort and peace and tell them you needed a 'MASTER CHEF'.
Watch out Bobby Flay, Ricky is waiting for that big COOK OFF in the sky.....
Love and Blessings

Dear Rick, Linda, Arthur & Family
Marni and I were shocked and saddened to hear the news that our Lord has taken Ricky home.
I have many fond memories of our childhood. I recall swimming at my parents house and seeing the sights in So. CA. during your visits. I remember the roar at the Cheer competition that we went to in Clovis during his senior year and chatting with him at your wedding anniversary.
I will always cherish those memories and I will dearly miss my cousin.
With deepest Sympathy

To Rick, Linda and Family
I was saddened to hear the news of your son. He always made us feel like we were part of the family even if we only saw your family a couple times a year.
I remember going camping and what a great cook he was and the year I did not get to go, Wayne came home and talked about all the great food he made and tried to make his mussels taste the same.
I really don't know how you get through something like this but I'm sure God has a great plan for him and he needed him earlier than we were ready to give him up.
My heart and prayers go out to you all and I will keep you in my thoughts.
Love always,
Cyndi, Wayne, Quinton and Ian Callicott

To the Lazaro/Alavazo Families...
My deepest symapthies for your loss. Through my friendship with Danielle and Nicole, I met many of the cousins, each with their own individual personalities. My memory of meeting Rick was during a peewee football game in Dublin. At that game, Rick personified an exuberant father who was vocal about his sons' big plays on the field. Through this and many more memories from family and friends, Rick will always live on.

Rick will forever be my best friend. I will carry the memories of him with me always. His infamous "Good Morning", and annoying but loveable "woof-woof". No one could ever replace my Bar B-Q Bro. When I see him again I know he'll be there to welcome me home. The short time he was in our lives Rick left a very big impression. I know we all wake up every morning and still can't believe it's true, our Rick is gone. But I know in my heart he is watching over all of us now, and probably trying to do what he does best, trying to make us all laugh. "You'll be greatly missed my brother and best friend."

LITTLE RICKY
I remember the excitement of the first born Alavazo/Lazaro Grandchild
Ricardo Rosina Lazaro Jr., but we just called him Little Ricky
I remember this chubby Buddha looking little boy with his dark slanted eyes and ears that stuck out like saucers. And a smile that just melted you.
I remember this little boy who liked rubbing our legs when we wore nylon stockings.
I remember this little boy who wanted to name his new dog Mrs. Weaver.
The Weavers were good friends and lived a couple of doors from us.
I remember the nightly baths with Ricky, Michelle, Art and Larry III all in the same tub.
I remember the Jungle Hats the kids wore when we took them fishing, with their fishing poles in hand marching through the tall weeds as if on a Safari.
I remember the clinking of plastic champagne glasses as the cousins toasted one another on the Holidays with red punch.
I remember Ricky having a paper route, that he always managed to have someone else deliver including myself and Little Larry. When Ricky was short a new customer for a contest or prize. He invented this new customer Mrs. Brown to boost his sales. To this day he has always called me
Mrs. Brown.
I remember this teenager picking up his Auntie Clare and taking her to movies.
I remember what a Great Father he was to his Sons, Rio,Jay and Logan.
Sports, dance rehearsals. fishing and camping he did it all.
I remember his love for cooking and helping us with any occasion we had planned. Giving all the Great Cooks in the Family a run for their money.
I will always remember his quick wit, and his great sense of humor. He wasn't ever angry or cross with anyone. Everyone that touched his life loved him so much.
I will remember his" Good Morning" and "Woof Woof" too.
I will remember your kind gentle Soul. I Love You, Auntie Clare AKA Mrs.Brown

Ricky,
We joined hands at your parent's home while Auntie Arlene led us in prayer proclaiming that your grandpas will have to step aside because you are now the "master chef" serving at God's table....but our hearts joined in sorrow knowing that you will no longer be serving at our table. I laughed as your mom, Auntie Arlene and Auntie Vicky told stories of you as a child. Your cousin, Nicole also shared her memories as will so many others during the next few days. You will be remembered with laughter and love and you leave behind a legacy of three great sons. Your memory will live within us for our lifetimes. We love you!
