Scott Melvin Strong

Oct. 29, 1966 - Dec. 2, 2010

Scott was born October 29, 1966 in Sacramento and passed suddenly on December 2, 2010.

Scott graduated from Kennedy High School and attended Sacramento City College. He owned Dammen Furniture & Decorative Finishes and worked in the restaurant supply business for seventeen years, most recently at Commercial Appliance after twelve years with Yaffee Restaurant Supply. He passionately loved his family, fishing, softball and helping others. Whether he was coaching, umpiring, working or volunteering at church, he was best known for being a loving, loyal and hardworking son, brother, husband, Daddy and friend.

A Rosary will be held on Wednesday, December 8th at 6:30 p.m. at Herberger's Elk Grove Funeral Chapel, 9101 Elk Grove, Blvd. and services will be held on Thursday, 10 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 9539 Racquet Court. It’s hard to believe that it’s already been 10 years since Scott’s graduation; how wonderful it must be for Scott to no longer experience sorrow or pain and his new body will never grow old. Although 10 years is a long time in earthly terms, it doesn’t even scratch the eternity we’ll all have with Scott when Jesus calls us home; what a blessed reunion that day will be.

I cannot even imagine your year without Scott, Julie. As a mother, the loss had to be one of the worst things that ever happened to you. I'm sure you and your family continue to miss Scott so much and his going to heaven so soon will forever leave a void in your lives.

May God be with you and yours during the Christmas holiday which is fast approaching. May He hold you tightly and bring joy into your hearts, knowing that one day you'll all be together again in His kingdom.

Dear Strong Family: We heard about Scott's passing the day after our 39th Wedding Anniversary. We were very devastated as Scott was our ring bearer. I will forever remember my special little cousin, Scotty. He was so cute and took his job seriously at 5 years old. Scotty, you will always be in my heart, and someday we will be together for all time!

Dear Strong Family: when I awoke to "I'm Devastated" my heart stopped. When I read the note and realized that Scott had graduated to Heaven, the emotion of it all hit very hard; for you and others that he touched. From his baby days to adult hood, his life was in constant motion but he lit up those around him. His family was blessed to have him for even a short time in earthly terms; they will be reunited for all eternity in God's timing. Know that he loved you all and continues to love you; just from a different place. We all know that he is not alone; there is a rich family heritage in Heaven! We love you all will pray for you daily; for peace and healing!

Dear Strong Family,
We are so heartbroken for your loss. Scott was a beautiful person. I remember so vividly his face when he came to our door to offer his jacket because Maya couldn’t find a zipper for her scavenger hunt. That’s how he was, always generous and thoughtful, a deeply kind and gracious man. On behalf of the Rainey family, we love you all, and our thoughts and prayers are with you every moment.

After reading Scott's obituary, I can see he just became more of what he already was when I knew him in high school; a wonderful man who loved his family, who worked hard, knew how to enjoy life, had a kind heart and thought of others before himself. I am so very sorry for your loss. I will not grow weary praying for Sonia, Racine, Julie, Brad, Robyn, Katie and Christine, as losing someone as special as Scott will be difficult. But please know, God is with you and will help you through this most difficult time. May God's peace flood your hearts in the days to come.
