Theodore "Ted" Katzakian

Jan. 10, 1937 - Oct. 18, 2008

Theodore "Ted" Katzakian beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, age 71, of Lodi, CA

passed away suddenly in a Sacramento hospital on Saturday, October 18th, 2008. He was born January 10th 1937 in Lodi California to Thomas and Sue Katzakian.

He attended Henderson Grammar School, Lodi High School, Stockton College, and UCLA where he majored in Theater Arts. Upon graduating from UCLA, Ted enlisted in the United States Air Force Reserve. He married LaDonna Schulz in 1961 and had two children Kristen and Timothy.

Ted entered the field of Real Estate with his uncle Bo Katzakian at Katzakian and Schaffer Real Estate in 1961. Later he went on to form Aladdin Real Estate, Genie Construction Company, Katzakian, Heath, and Williams Real Estate, Ted Katzakian Company, and Ted Katzakian Property Management. Numerous homes, shopping centers, duplexes, apartments and condominiums in Lodi and Galt have his name and hand attached to them.

He served as President of Lodi Kiwanis Club in 1970-71, President of the Lodi Board of Realtors in 1976, President of Woodbridge Golf and Country Club in 1989. Ted also served on the Lodi Planning Commission from 1969 - 1971, the Lodi City Council from 1976 - 1980, and as Lodi's Mayor in 1980. He enjoyed playing golf with his numerous friends and fishing with son and grandson.

His mother Sue, his father Tom, and his daughter Kristen preceded him in death. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Eleanor and Don Kundert; his nieces Pam Squires, Kim Kundert, and Kelly Nuss, and their families; his son and daughter-in-law Timothy and Suzie Katzakian and one grandson Trevor Katzakian.

A memorial service will be held at Bear Creek Community Church, 11171 N. Lower Sacramento Road at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 23rd. Immediately following the service, a reception will be held at Wine and Roses.

Donations can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at 800-955-4572 or to the charity of your choice. Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

We were sad to hear about the passing of Ted late Saturday evening. We pray for Gods blessings to surround your family.After constructing one of our business complex and doing a large remodel of another building I had the pleasure of really knowing his heart and his smile and proud to talk about his son. We were saddened to hear of Ted's passing. My friendship with Ted began in the 1st grade at Henderson school, a period of about 65 years. I have some fond memories of the times we shared as friends. He was a fine gentleman. His parents were also fine people, it has been a privledge to have known and been friends with the entire family.
