Montgomery, NY

Gerald James Ottavan, a 28-year resident of the area, died Friday, March 21, 2008 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY. He was 62.

Son of the late Gerald John and Ruth O'Brien, he was born January 15, 1946 in Nutley, NJ.

Gerald was a store manager for Pathmark Supermarkets. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Church in Bloomingburg; Catholic War Veterans, and Vietnam Veterans of America.

Survivors include his loving wife of 38 years, Sue Ann Witte Ottavan, at home; three loving children: Blair Ottavan and his wife, Melinda of Wallkill, Stephanie Chadwick and her husband, Robert of Maryland, and Melissa Maragliano and her husband, John of Montgomery; three loving grandchildren: Dorreen, Megan and John; one loving brother, Mark Ottavan and his wife, Carolyn of Georgia; one loving sister, Lillian Hollingsworth and her husband, Scott of New Jersey, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 24, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home, 1525 Burlingham Rd., Pine Bush, NY 12566.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 25 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Bloomingburg, NY, with Father Raymond Bagdonis, O'Carm officiating. Burial will be in Orange County Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
