JoEllen Bonse Obituary
JoEllen Ridley Bonse passed away in Mount Sinai Hospital, New York City, NY on Monday, March 23, 2009. She is very happy and peacefully with our Heavenly Father now.
JoEllen is my wonderful wife because she always cared for people, making quilts, scrapbooking, sewing and handicrafts. Her talent was hand crafts by gift of God. I will never forget she made more than 300 quilts for new babies in hospitals, about 20 hats for persons who are cancer patients in Westchester Medical Clinic, sewed a prom dress for deaf student who was very poor, making Miss Deaf New York pageant banners for Empire State Association of the Deaf and others. Most people love my wife. We miss her. God bless her. We will meet her again someday.
She was born in Artesia, CA. She graduated from California School for the Deaf at Riverside in 1977. She attended Riverside City Community College where she studied in Home Economics.
She served as a missionary in Chicago, IL, Fresno, CA, and Denver, CO for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. JoEllen and Vernon got married in Los Angeles Temple on February 15, 1986. She was employed at IBM and Austine School for the Deaf in Vermont and other employers. She was a member of Mid-Hudson Valley Club of the Deaf, Mid-Hudson Valley Civic Association of the Deaf on behalf of Empire State Association of the Deaf Board of Sign Language Resources Inc., and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Jacqueline Ridley, her mother, lives in Las Vegas NV; her sister, Joy Farais and husband live in California. She predeceased by her father and brother passed away in 2001.
JoEllen's memorial service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 485 Mt. Airy Rd., New Windsor, NY on Saturday, March 28, at 11 a.m.; 845-564-6785. Our thoughts are with you, Vernon. I intended to attend Jo's funeral yesterday because it was the right time to afford to fly to NY. However, I realized that time to arrange to reserve the flight seat was short time between your annoucement of Jo passing away last Wednesday and funeral day yesterday. Next time I visit you, Vernon, in NY when I visit my parents, we can attend her burial ground or shelter of cermated ash in NY(?). What I never forget with Jo was that you, Vernon, brought her to visit to see me at John and Bernadette's party when we visited my parents' 50 anniverary party in 2004 or reunion of 1976 in 2000 (I hardly remember; is this the right dates?). It was rare and special visit because Jo was simply cared others as well as us. God's love, peace and comfort are with you. Love, Greg Warren
