Katherine Lorenzo Obituary

Formerly of Middletown, NY

Katherine Mary Cosco Lorenzo, 102, of New York, NY, formerly of Sussex, NJ and Middletown, NY, died Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Amsterdam Nursing Home in New York City.

Born in Middletown, NY on August 9, 1906, she was the daughter of Salvatore Cosco and Constance Tilli Cosco DelGandio. She was the widow of Anthony J. Lorenzo, owner of Lorenzo's in Sussex, NJ.

She owned and operated the Harper Method Beauty Shop in Middletown for many years. In later years, she was a seamstress at the Morley Shirt Company, Franklin, NJ. A communicant of St. Joseph's Church, Middletown, she was a member of St. Monica's Church and Rosary Society in Sussex, NJ. She was president of the Sussex County Chapter of the American Cancer Society and active in the Democratic Party. She was an accomplished amateur painter.

Katherine is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Conk of New York City; her sister, Jean VanDerVeer of Washington, NJ; her brother, Fred DelGandio of South Burlington, VT; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday, May 14, from 6-8 p.m. at Morse Funeral Home, Inc., 33 Railroad Ave., Middletown.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 15, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, Middletown, with Father Dennis Nikolic officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Middletown.
