Ronald Steele Obituary

Ronald Steele
Lake Ann, MI
05/01/1953 - 12/20/2024
Lake Ann – Ronald "Ron" J. Steele, 71, of Lake Ann, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024, at home surrounded by his family.
Ron was born on Friday, May 1, 1953, to the late Richard and Margaret (Brink) Steele in Holland, Michigan. He moved to the Traverse City area as a young teen. He was a proud member of UA Local 85 as a welder and pipefitter, working there from 1976 until his retirement in 2007. On January 1, 1977, Ron married Carol-Sue (Bright) in Lake Ann, Michigan.
Ron was known for his quiet nature and unwavering devotion to his family. His family was the center of his world, and he found true joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren. Some of his happiest times were spent with his family, especially when they gathered in the mornings to cook breakfast together. Ron had a sneaky sense of humor and a signature chuckle. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Ron was never without a loyal canine companion by his side, and his bond with them was truly special.
Ron was also a devoted papa, and his grandkids especially cherished the moments spent curled up in his lap, reading books and sharing a scoop of ice cream. A collector at heart, Ron had a special fondness for coins and classic cars. It was not uncommon for him to surprise his loved ones by bringing home a classic car when least expected.
Though he was a man of few words, Ron loved deeply, worked hard, and cherished his relationships with his family.
Ron is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carol-Sue Steele of Lake Ann; his children, Brooke (Jesse) Beardslee, Clint Steele, and Graydon (Christina) Steele; his grandchildren, Alexandra Beardslee, Ivor and Ewan Steele, Siella, Sawyer, Briggs, Cooper, and Crew Steele; his sister, Diane (Dan) Downer; and many other loving nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his father, Richard A. Steele; his mother, Margaret Steele; his brothers, Dick (Joann) Steele and Gary (Laura) Steele; and his sister, Sharon (Paul) Bristol.
Funeral service was held December 28, 2024, at Jowett Family Funeral Home in Benzonia. A private graveside service will be held at West Almira Cemetery at a later date.
