Don McClung Obituary

Don McClung

Hat Creek, CA

Don was born April 1938 in Sheridan, Arkansas to Milton and Ethel McClung. He grew up in Burney and graduated from Fall River High School. Don passed away March 18th after a long battle with Parkinson's.

An avid sports fan, Don was an excellent athlete participating and excelling in all. He later loved supporting his kids and grandkids in all activities.

Dubbed "Mr. Softball" in the 50s and 60s he particularly loved fast pitch softball with family and many lifelong friends. The team traveled the north state to may tournaments and were very successful in the Redding leagues. These were always very fond memories.

Don began work at Lorenz Lumber Co., Scott Lumber Co., and in the 80s formed an owner/operator salvage logging company.

He is survived by wife Gail; son Dirk (Sammi) of Burney; daughter Erin Utterback (Robert) of McArthur; and beloved grandchildren Layton and Ciera. He also leaves brother Rex; sister Lava Barnes, and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to Mayers Intermountain Foundation Building Fund, P.O. Box 459, Fall River Mills, Ca 96028.

Private family services are planned at the Burney Cemetery.
