James Gary Standifer (Gary)

Gary, 82, passed away June 8, 2017, at his residence.
He was preceded in death by parents, Quintus and Lucille Standifer (TN), Sisters Anne Johnson, and Caroline Geren (TN).
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley Standifer, two daughters: Elaine King (Stuart), and Lisa Trenholm, four grandchildren: Ashley Hansen (Travis) (WA), Shiloh Trenholm, Candace King, Morgan King, and a great granddaughter Aviendha Hansen (WA), as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was born in Red Bank, TN, and moved from Ooltewah, TN, in 1958 to Redding, CA, where he started as a construction laborer for his Uncle Homer Baker. He then started a successful career as a General Contractor, which he continued for the rest of his life.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, June 16, 2017, at 11 A.M. at First Baptist Church on Eureka Way in Redding, CA.

In 2005 when Gary was visiting in TN, the two of us took a trip to Virginia to do some common family history research. We had a great time together and saw some very interesting family sites. Sorry I am a year late.

So sorry we could not make the memorial service .
We just got back from Boise, Idaho, I had Pam's
birthday day dinner to get ready.

I attended a meeting with a friend at Gary's house about 20 yrs. ago. And though I can not remember the meeting's purpose, I never forgot Gary and his gracious manner, and I have thought of him often through the years. He was a beautiful presence and an inspiration for those met him, even if only for a brief moment.
I know he will be greatly missed. My deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and loved ones.

Shirley and family: Our sincere condolences on the passing of Gary. He accomplished a lot during his life, especially the raising of a great family and a marriage of over 60+ years. Plus he built the first house we lived in in Redding and have many great memories of.
