Glen Bennett Obituary

Glen Eugene Bennett

October 17, 1923 - January 12, 2015

Glen, 91, peacefully passed away at his home on January 12th, in Anderson, CA.
He was the eighth child born into a family of nine in Susanville, CA.

Glen moved to Anderson, CA in 1936 and attended Anderson Union High School.
Glen was a World War II Coast Guard Veteran, having voluntarily served along with three of his brothers.

In 1946, he married the love of his life, Ardith Joy (Graham) Bennett. Glen worked in the lumber industry for over 40 years, he was highly respected by management as well as his co-workers. He retired from Nickel Molding Inc. in Anderson, CA in 1988 as a Yard Leadman. Glen hoped that he would be remembered as a hard worker and that he always took care of his family.

Glen was preceded in death by his eldest son, Larry; survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Ardith; his second son, Robert; and only daughter, Nancy; 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on January 23, 2015 at 12:00 pm, at the Cottonwood Community Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to a charity of their choice.

I was saddened to see that Glen had passed on. It has been many, many years since I met up with him, but I do remember stories that my dad (Earl) used to share about him. He was my Great Aunt Rita's son, so we were cousins. Since Glen was related to my dad, I can vouch for the fact that he was a hard worker, and that he took care of his family!

Dear Glen is gone from us, but our love and care is still vivid, and he holds a special place in our hearts and lives. Ardith, Robert, and Nancy...you shall be in my thoughts and in my prayers.

With love from your cousin,
Merri

I had a lot of laughs and shared a variety of amazing moments in the short time I knew you. You were a great presence in life and you will be a presence in the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing you. Rest now and know that you will never be forgotten. My love and prayers go out to my wife and her family. Your Papa is home and no longer suffering. Carry him in your hearts and remember all the great moments you shared. It's one of the hardest things to deal with but come together be a family help each other through it and realize it's sad and heartbreaking but it will be ok. I am deeply sorry for your loss and I will keep you all in my prayers and may the Lord bless you and keep you.
