Ronald Culp Obituary

Ronald Burdette Culp

Ronald Burdette Culp was born on September 6, 1935 in Southern California, and died from complications of the COVID-19 virus on April 3, 2020 in Redding, CA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sheryl Culp. He is survived by six children, sons Ronald "Curly" (Pennie) Culp, Bruce (Denise) Culp, and daughter Nancy Culp, all of Yreka, CA; also daughter Cindy Culp, and son Jonathan Culp of Redding, CA and daughter Lori (Gary) Neighbor of Chapala, MX. He also has 3 surviving siblings, 11 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

Ron was a long time resident of Yreka, CA after moving with his family from Southern California in 1953. He rode from Southern California to Yreka, standing and looking over the cab on the back of a 1953 Chevy flatbed. He attended Yreka High School, where he met his first wife, Maxine. They married in Yreka, CA and had 3 children. Ron and Maxine later divorced and Ron married Sheryl Schroeder. They were married for 42 years.

Ron and Sheryl owned Green Acres RV Park in Redding, CA for many years. Sheryl jokingly referred to him as the PR person at Green Acres RV park. He sold the park last year and finally "retired" at the age of 83.

He loved fishing with his best friend from high school, Richard Sargent, and was proud to have become part owner of Yreka Lumber Co at the age of 28. He was tender hearted toward those in need and willing to listen, share wisdom, and pray for people who showed up on his doorstep. He helped countless people by providing housing and supporting them.

Ron dedicated his life to his relationship with God and sharing the love of Jesus to those around him. During his recent hospital visits, when asked by the staff if he lived alone, he would respond "me and Jesus." Whether he was entertaining with his cow and chicken impressions or singing, Ron is remembered for his voice. He loved to sing in the choir and performed many solos during community events or in church. Recently, he found much joy at re-connecting with dear friends at Bethel's Diamond Fellowship. He was a member of The Stirring church in Redding.

Ron has run the race well and gone to his real home in heaven with Jesus.

My husband lived at Green Acres RV Park for almost 5 years, before we got married. Ron and Sheryl were the kindest folks to be around. Those two worked tirelessly to keep that park in pristine condition. He openly shared his faith and always had a wonderful smile, and could just make the day a little better. I can only imagine the lives he touched throughout the years. Sending hugs and condolences to his family.
