Steven Rodarte Obituary

Steven Victor Rodarte

Redding, CA

Steven Victor Rodarte was born to loving parents Victor and Kay on January 31, 1956 and passed away August 7, 2015 at home.

He had an adventurous childhood with his two brother John and Jim, and two sisters Vicky and Barbara. Upon graduating from Clayton Valley High School he joined the US Navy and served on the USS Midway. He met his match, Stephanie, at his coming home celebration. They were married 6 weeks later in July of 1980. During their life together they had 3 wonderful boys Christopher, David and Patrick; known to the US Air Force as their "Hat Trick".

Steve's best times were spent coaching the boys and being on the lake with family and friends. He also loved traveling and seeking out new adventure all over the world. His more recent joy was having the title "Papa" which he wore with pride for Isabella, Paige, Chloe and Elliott.

Steve always showed his strength in family values, his work ethics and helping others. In his battle against cancer, he showed his strength until the end with his heart and will. His quick wit and sense of humor will be missed by his loving family and many friends.

A celebration of life will be held September 6th at 1:30 pm at Redding Elks Lodge.

I didn't know Steve all that well, but even in the first 5 minutes of knowing him you could tell what a generous and kind person he was. I know he will be missed by many.

One of my greatest memories is from one of my early camping trips to whiskeytown with the family. I had my first child and was camping with a baby. Steve would take Mackenzie from me at camp and hold her. He loved holding babies and was so good with them. He was a sweet man and he will be greatly missed.

It's difficult to put into words all of what my uncle Steve was. To say he was kind, loving, devoted to his family, entertaining, or brave doesn't really serve him justice. He was those things but so much more. I see all of these qualities in his children. The Rodarte heart and spirit lives on through them. I will miss him so much but always smile when I think of him because that's what he always made us do.

Steve, I have only known you for the last five or six years but got to know you as a person with an open heart and willing hand.

You touched many people in your life and I was very privileged to have been one of those fortuned ones.

I will be in Alaska a the time of your service but will be thinking of you and Stef and family. Will look forward to seeing you again some day
