J. DuVall Obituary

J. Barry DuVall

GRIMESLAND - J. Barry DuVall, Ph.D., Grimesland, North Carolina.

Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Author, and Educator, Dr. J. Barry DuVall, entered into eternal rest on the 20th of May 2017. His true-life passions were education, and his love of horses. For more than 50 years, he served loyally and faithfully as Director, Chairperson, Professor, Author, Researcher and Advisor. Dr. DuVall was a key player in the development of the first internet programs for East Carolina University, and the first online graduate education program in Industrial Technology in the nation. He authored/co-authored six textbooks, and countless articles.

Dad, you will forever be in our hearts. Your loving children, Lisa, John, and Jason.

It was sad to just learn of Barry's death. We were colleagues at West Virginia University and enjoyed the same interests. When I visited him in 1989, Barry gave me a floppy disk with the first version of PowerPoint. As soon as I figured out how it worked, I was amazed.

Barry also took us in his little boat on the canal with following autumn leaves falling all around us on a beautiful afternoon and then for dinner at a pirate's hangout.

I'm pleased to find out that Barry was a prolific author of industrial technology books.

Barry was a fine human being. Always upbeat; always supportive. I felt privileged to know him and work with him. He will live on within all of us who knew him well.
