GREENVILLE - Marye Latham Nelson Robinson, 81, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025.
Graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 17th, at 11AM, in Pinewood Memorial Park. Marye Latham Nelson Robinson was born on July 13, 1943. She was the daughter of Ann Congleton Nelson and Wilmer Thomas Nelson.
She was a member of the Stokes Christian Church and attended services there until its closure. She was a lifelong resident of Pitt County and a graduate of Stokes Pactolus High School. She attended Atlantic Christian College and East Carolina University. Marye Latham worked for Dr. Ledyard Ross for 18 years, the Washington Housing Authority for over 9 years, and Robinson Tower until retirement at 65. She was married to her high school sweetheart Kenneth Edward Robinson for over 61 years, and they were together for over 67 years. She was a dancer and cheerleader, and she and her husband won dance competitions. Marye Latham was a lifelong artist and loved flowers. She was an avid animal lover and nursed injured cats back to health.
Two of her greatest joys in life were her daughter and granddaughter. She loved watching her granddaughter sing and dance because she was her biggest supporter. Marye Latham was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ann Congleton Nelson and Wilmer Thomas Nelson; and sister, Anne Whitehurst Nelson. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Kenneth Robinson of Greenville; daughter, Amanda Robinson McDaniel of Greenville; granddaughter, Marye Amanda McDaniel of Greenville; sisters, Josephine Nelson of Stokes and Martha "Kitti" Ballenger of Rocky Mount; and brother Richard Nelson and wife, Faye of Rocky Mount; and many nieces and nephews. She leaves behind seven adored cats: Cinder, Honey, Wolfie, Bandit, Dusty, Stormi, and Sunny.
