Charles Wilson Obituary

FAIRVIEW - Charles William "Chuck" Wilson, 76, 31867 Illinois 97, died at 4:50 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 22, 2008) in O.S.F. St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born on May 2, 1932, in Cuba, to Arthur Glen and Goldie Marie (Griffith) Wilson. He married Eileen Gray on June 28, 1952, in Canton. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter Sandi (and Junior) Hickman of Fairview; two sons Jim (and Sue) Wilson of Canton, Willie Wilson of Fairview; eight grandchildren; two step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; and three sisters Elsie Garbin, of Girard, Eva Fisher of Finksburg, MD., and Fern Landwehr of Dunlap.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
He was an Army veteran during the Korean War and was stationed in Berlin.
Chuck worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company for 32 years, retiring in 1985.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapshooting. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. The Rev. Dave Smallegan will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Foster Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
