Franklin Hilligoss Obituary

LAVERGNE, Tenn. - Franklin Howard "Duck" Hilligoss, formerly of Galesburg, Illinois, died peacefully at home in LaVergne, Tennessee, on July 10, 2020.

Frank was born July 17, 1934, to David Hilligoss and Stella Jack. He was an avid sportsman and excelled at Knoxville High School in football, basketball and track. He also boxed. But, the love of his life was his music. Frank started singing when he was just 4 years old and wound up performing around Galesburg, surrounding cities, and eventually all around the country for several decades. He recorded several records along the way.

Later in life he also loved watching football, especially the New Orleans Saints, and always had his dog, Peppy, by his side.

He was preceded in death by his father; mother; six brothers; one sister; his first wife, Sharon Humphrey; and one child, Wayne Hilligoss.

He is survived by his second wife, Sandra Gillenwater; his children, Sherry Hilligoss, Jeff Jackson, Donavon (Elvira) Hilligoss, Wednesday Hilligoss (Nick McGlown) and Drake (Andrea) Hilligoss; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He never gave up on his music and continued singing his entire life, bringing joy to all those who listened.

Cremation was accorded and services will be at a later date. Memorials may be sent to Wednesday Hilligoss, 64 Blaine Ave, Galesburg, IL 61401.
