Very sorry to hear of John's passing. I have worked for the Corps for many years and John always treated me kindly and with great respect, and I in turn did likewise. I am very sad to say the least as I am sure many that knew him are. I first met John in Keokuk Iowa early nineties. I had to climb down the lock wall ladder to the barge and it was a long climb. It was middle of winter and I forgot my gloves in the car and my hands were frozen. Before I left that day John made sure I had a new pair of gloves to climb out with. Never forgot that and I still have the gloves and I still think of John everytime I wear them.

Life is but a flicker, but Heaven is the realization of true love and forgiveness.

Remember the good times, they far outnumber the bad ones and they help to fill your emptiness.

Peace be with you.
