Margaret Wilkins Obituary

GALESBURG - Margaret A. 'Maggie' Wilkins, 66, Galesburg, died at 5:37 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at her residence in Galesburg.

She was born Oct. 28, 1943, in Galesburg, the daughter of Charles M. and Mary L. Hausman Wilkins Jr.

Surviving are a brother, Jim Wilkins of Galesburg; godchildren Jill Shanks of Galesburg and Nicole Stropes of Goodlottsville, Tenn.; and godgranddaughter Chloe Shanks. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Shirley Bednarcik.

She was raised and educated in Galesburg, graduating from Galesburg High School in 1962.

She worked at Admiral Corporation in Galesburg for 31 years, retiring in April 1995.

She coached girls softball in the area and loved animals and fishing.

Cremation will be accorded. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory, Knoxville, with visitation at 1 p.m. Private burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg.

Memorials may be made to the family to be given to medical research.
